II. Left Hand Studies – 4 finger permutations
III. Linear Approach – scales, modes, melodies
IV. Vertical Approach – harmonic progressions, voice-leading
V. Repertoire – application of materials in musical situations
These important skills are challenging to practice alone because the necessary consistency and focus can often feel tedious and boring. In real-life playing situations, such as jam sessions, there is little time to really learn and work on new skills, leaving the player only to use the most familiar and easiest tools. This small group class provides a safe and supportive opportunity for each individual to push themselves beyond their comfort zones.
