Thanks to a Pathways To Jazz grant (Boulder County Arts Alliance) Lande, Young, and Williamson will record original compositions spanning the past five decades. Three master improvising composers with decades of playing history are together again giving concerts along the Front Range in preparation for a recording project of originals. This trio of piano, guitar, and woodwinds blurs distinctions between chamber/orchestral, written/spontaneous, sublime/ridiculous, as well as any stylistic suggestions from Jazz, Blues, Rock, 20th Century classical, and beyond. The underlying principle is the expansive spirit of freedom and adventure, allowing the stories of the moment to emerge and guide the musical journey.
